He is the founder and chairman of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and is deeply committed for the cause of sustainable food and nutrition security to all. He is known as the “Father of Indian Green Revolution” for his leadership in successfully introducing and developing the high-yielding varieties of wheat in India. He is the founder and patron of the Coalition of Food and Nutrition Security. The Coalition was formed under his able leadership following a large consultation on nutrition security held at the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation in Chennai in August 2007.

Chandrakant S. Pandav

Dr. Pandav is a renowned professor in AIIMS, the President of the Association for Indian Coalition for Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD). He represents ICCIDD in the Board.

ICCIDD Global Network is located in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. It has been recognized by the World Health Assembly as an Expert Consultative Group on Iodine Deficiency Disorders. ICCIDD is also engaged in national level advocacy for promoting sustainable elimination of IDD. His commitment is towards policy & program inputs and strengthening of networking with academic institutions. He is deeply motivated to take the nutrition agenda forward.

Ms. Rita Sarin, Treasure

Ms. Rita Sarin is the Global Vice President & Country Director, The Hunger Project India. She is committed to bring her forty-five years of knowledge to the Board and help the Coalition in achieving its vision and mission. Her long drawn experience is unmatched and would greatly help the organisation in achieving its goal of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security to all. She is deeply compassionate about the agenda of food and nutrition security and we wish to work with her support and guidance in all times to come. She is truly an asset for the organisation.

 

Ms. Sonali Patnaik, Secretary

Sonali Patnaik

Ms. Sonali Patnaik is an anthropologist and MBA (HR). She is currently the Director of Arupa Mission Research Foundation. Sonali has been working in the Third Sector for 20 years now and is certified in Social Impact Assessments, Gender Budgeting and implementing the NFHS. Her experience spans across the civil society, multilateral and bilateral organisation, INGOs, research groups, consulting and business houses. Her commitment is in steering the vision and mission of the Coalition forward, adding value, innovation and effective leadership. She facilitates in shaping of the CSR Work Group (cutting across all other sectors that are determinants of food security and health such as WASH, Gender, ICTs, human resources, governance among others).

Dr. Ashok Agarwal

Dr. Agarwal is a Trustee of the Indian Institute of Health Management & Research and John Hopkins University, USA. He is highly committed to take forward the agenda of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security for all. He is committed to give his best to the organisation and work towards realisation of its vision and mission. His long drawn experience and expertise in the field is certainly a valuable asset for the organisation and its agenda. We wish to continue working for the cause of food and nutrition security under his guidance and seek his support in all our endeavours.

Mr. Bhaskar Barua

Mr. Barua is a member (Non Official)-Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Assam. His commitment is towards value based governance, transparency, inclusive approach to coalition building, advocacy for strategic convergence for sustainable food and nutrition security in India. He has a deep understanding and knowledge about the working of government systems. His long and incomparable experience and expertise is highly valued for the Coalition and we wish to take our agenda of sustainable food and nutrition security forward under his competent guidance and leadership.

Ms. Harshita Pandey

Ms. Harshita Pandey was the Chairperson, State Women Commission, Chhattisgarh. She is highly committed to incorporate Gender in food and nutrition agenda, support CFNS in sensitizing key Parliamentarians and politicians, support networking with National Commission for Women as well as SWC in many states. She is deeply motivated to bring the food and nutrition security agenda forward. She has valuable experience of working with the government and non-governmental development actors. Her knowledge and skills in the area is a valuable asset for the organisation. We wish to continue working under her able guidance.

Mr. Nilamadhab Prusty

Mr. Prusty is the Honorary President of Humanitarian AID International and Honorary Director, Centre for Development & Disaster Management Support Services. His commitment is towards deeper understanding of food and nutrition by virtue of long years of working in this domain through NDDB, Technology Mission, Care India, Sphere, etc. He has a strong insight in production, distribution and terms of trade of food commodities, policy understanding etc. His diverse experiences and deep understanding in the field would greatly help the organisation in working towards the cause of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security for all.

Dr. Ramesh Chandra Panda

Dr R. C. Panda is the Former Secretary to the Government of India and Member, Central Administrative Tribunal. He has 40 years of experience in the social sector at national, state, and district levels. He is a great asset for the Coalition. He is highly committed to the cause of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security for all. He possesses great depth of knowledge and understanding related to government systems and its working, which is highly valuable for the organisation and its mission. Dr Satish Agnihotri is the Former Secretary Coordination, Cabinet Secretariat & Professor, CTARA and Head, Centre for Policy Studies, IIT, Mumbai. His commitment lies in area of rapid reduction of malnutrition, advocacy based on evidence, promote cross sector collaboration. He is deeply motivated to bring the food and nutrition security agenda forward. He has a long and unmatched experience of working in the government systems which is highly valued for the Coalition and its agenda.
