Dr. Sujeet Ranjan, Executive Director

Dr. Sujeet Ranjan is the Executive Director of The Coalition for Food and Nutrition (Coalition). He has been associated with social development sector for more than two decades. His experience includes leading and managing large scale programs, policy advocacy and partnership management.

Prior to Coalition, he has worked as Chief Operating Officer – Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute, Director – CARE India and Chief Operating Officer – Magic Bus India Foundation.

He is a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Public Health and MBA in Rural Management & HRD. He is also a Visionary Leadership Program (VLP) fellow in Population and Development by ICOMP, Malaysia.

Sujeet has worked extensively with leaders in National & State governments, civil society organizations, private sector, and development agencies including USAID, DFID, BMGF, EU and international not for profit organizations.

 C S N Murthy, Manager – Finance, Administration and Resource Mobilisation

C S N Murthy joined as Manager – Finance, Administration and Resource Mobilisation. Murthy did his M.A in Economics with Specialisation in International Trade besides LL.B (specialisation in Labour Laws) and M.B.A in Finance. To his credit Murthy had thirty years of experience out of which eighteen years are with development sector.

 

 

 Paromita Mitra, Manager – Membership Engagement, Knowledge Management & Communications

Paromita holds a Post-Graduation in Human Rights & Duties from Jadavpur University, and a Post-Graduation in Applied Economics & Information Management from Calcutta University. She has excelled in UNESCO’s Advanced Programme in International Understanding on Human Unity (IUHU). Having worked in several states of India Paromita has substantial exposure in Research, Knowledge Management, Communication and Training. She is a swift and versatile writer and specializes in taking complicated information and presenting it in an easy-to- understand, upbeat format. She prides having juggled several projects simultaneously and continuously under GoI and DFID. Post Tsunami she moved to Port Blair to provide the lead in documenting a robust project. Furthermore, she is remarkably tech-savvy and is conversant in 8 Languages (Indian & Foreign). Paromita has participated in the South Asian Federal (SAF) Games.

Amarjit Lahkar, State Project Coordinator, Assam Chapter

Amarjit Lahkar is the State Project Coordinator for Assam of The Coalition for Food and Nutrition (Coalition). He has been associated with social development sector for more five years. His experience includes working with diverse communities on livelihood based intervention in most of the North Eastern states of India, team management as well as exposure in Research, liasoning among various government departments, farmer’s level training programmes. Prior to Coalition, he has worked as Agriculture Consultant – Action for Food Production, District Project Officer, Dhubri, Assam – Assam State Disaster Management Authority and as District Coordinator, Sikkim – North East Rural Livelihood Project, Min. Of DoNER, India. He is a B. Sc (Agriculture.) fro m Assam Agricultural University and M.Sc (Forestry) from North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Arunachal Pradesh. Amarjit has worked extensively with leading NGO’s as well as with various Government Organisations, civil society organizations, private sector, and development agencies such Aaranyak, NERLP, Ministry of DoNER, Syngenta, AFPRO.

Sayan Deori, State Project Associate, Assam Chapter

Sayan Deori has a Masters in Community Organisation and Development Practice from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and studied Food Science and Nutrition from Assam Agricultural University, during his graduation. He has experience of working and managing community led nutrition projects with Public Health Resource Network (PHRN) and PRADAN in central and east India. He is quite passionate about documentation of tribal cuisines and indigenous food practices. In this quest for the promotion of food sovereignty and security, he started a documentation and promotion project called “Mashed Potato (Aloo Pitika)” in various social media platforms. He is very passionate about travelling  to rural India, and this is often fueled by his interest to study indigenous food systems and cultures. His area of interest is Community Nutrition, Tribal health, Food diversity and Food sovereignty.

Juri Barman, Accountant, Assam Chapter

Juri did her Bachelors and Masters in Commerce from Guwahati University with specialization in Accounting and Finance. Previously she had worked as a Faculty-Accounts with the Institute of Computer accountants (ICAI) and as an Audit and Tax Assistant with Hussain and Co., a chartered accountant firm. Since long, she was inclined to work in development sector.

 

Nar Bahadur Thapa, Support Staff

Nar Bahadur Thapa is with the Coalition team since a very long time. He helps in managing the day-to-day activities within the organisation. He ensures the comfort of all members so that everyone can work up to their maximum potential. He is one of the most valuable employee of the Coalition.
