Prof M S Swaminathan, Patron and Emeritus Chair

He is the founder and chairman of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and is deeply committed for the cause of sustainable food and nutrition security to all. He is known as the “Father of Indian Green Revolution” for his leadership in successfully introducing and developing the high-yielding varieties of wheat in India. He is the founder and patron of the Coalition of Food and Nutrition Security. The Coalition was formed under his able leadership following a large consultation on nutrition security held at the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation in Chennai in August 2007.


Dr. Ramesh Chandra Panda, Board Chair

Dr. R. C. Panda is the Former Secretary to the Government of India and Member, Central Administrative Tribunal. Dr Panda is a member of National Water Policy drafting committee and also Executive Committee of National Nutrition Mission. He has 45 years of experience in the social sector at national, state, and district levels. He is a great asset for the Coalition. He is highly committed to the cause of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security for all. He possesses great depth of knowledge and understanding related to government systems and its working, which is highly valuable for the organisation and its mission. We desire to take our mission forward under his valued guidance and leadership.


Dr. Sheila C Vir, Board Vice Chair

Dr Sheila Vir , PhD is  a senior Public Health Nutrition consultant, with over 35 years of experience and of these 20 years with UNICEF. She was secretary of the Nutrition Society of India in 2004-5. Dr Vir is a recipient of the Commonwealth Van den Bergh Award, the Srikantia Memorial Lecture Award 2013 of the Nutrition Society of India and the Kamal Puri Sabharwal Memorial Oration Award 2015. She has over 90 journal publications and is the editor of the book entitled “Public Health Nutrition in Developing Countries”.


Prof. Satish B. Agnihotri, Board Secretary

Satish AgnihotriProf. Satish Agnihotri is the Former Secretary Coordination, Cabinet Secretariat & Emeritus Fellow, Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA). He is also the former head of CTARA and Centre for Policy Studies, IIT, Mumbai. His commitment lies in area of rapid reduction of malnutrition, advocacy based on evidence, promote cross sector collaboration. He is deeply motivated to bring the food and nutrition security agenda forward. He has a long and unmatched experience of working in the government systems which is highly valued for the Coalition and its agenda. He is extremely enthusiastic to work towards the organisation’s mission and help the Coalition achieve its goals and objectives.


Mr. M Ramesh Babu, Board Treasurer

Mr. M. Ramesh Babu has been in the development and disaster management fields over last 24 years. He is the  Executive Director of EFICOR, a national relief and development organization, based in New Delhi. He has vast field implementation experience in the thematic areas of Livelihood, Maternal and Child health, Disaster Risk Reduction and Urban resilience. He has been in the part of senior management for last one decade and now heads the organization which is reputed and certified by the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS). He has the ability to steer the team towards optimum outcomes by creating a result-oriented environment without compromising the values and program quality and also to build the team with a win-win attitude. His experience of fields, management and advocacy will greatly add value to the coalition in taking food and nutrition security agenda forward to help the poor and socially excluded.


 Prof. Chandrakant S. Pandav, Board Member

Chandrakant S. Pandav

Dr. Pandav is a renowned professor in AIIMS, the President of the Association for Indian Coalition for Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD). He represents ICCIDD in the Board. ICCIDD Global Network is located in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. It has been recognized by the World Health Assembly as an Expert Consultative Group on Iodine Deficiency Disorders. ICCIDD is also engaged in national level advocacy for promoting sustainable elimination of IDD. His commitment is towards policy & program inputs and strengthening of networking with academic institutions. He is deeply motivated to take the nutrition agenda forward.


Mr. Bhaskar Barua, Board Member

Bhaskar Barua

Mr. Barua is the Former Secretary to the Government of India and a member (Non Official)-Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Assam. His commitment is towards value based governance, transparency, inclusive approach to coalition building, advocacy for strategic convergence for sustainable food and nutrition security in India. He has a deep understanding and knowledge about the working of government systems. His long and incomparable experience and expertise is highly valued for the Coalition and we wish to take our agenda of sustainable food and nutrition security forward under his competent guidance and leadership.


Mr. Nilamadhab Prusty, Board Member

Nilamadhab Prusty

Mr. Prusty is the Honorary President of Humanitarian AID International and Honorary Director, Centre for Development & Disaster Management Support Services. His commitment is towards deeper understanding of food and nutrition by virtue of long years of working in this domain through NDDB, Technology Mission, Care India, Sphere, etc. He has a strong insight in production, distribution and terms of trade of food commodities, policy understanding etc. His diverse experiences and deep understanding in the field would greatly help the organisation in working towards the cause of Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security for all.


Shri Ranglal Jamuda, Board Member

 Shri Ranglal Jamuda joined the Indian Administrative service in 1981 and superannuated in 2016. After Superannuation, he became the first chairperson for the Odisha State food commission for a term of 3 years.  He worked for about 35 Years in the Government both State and central to discharge functions in important  sectors like Agriculture, Education, Energy, Industry, Land Revenue, Rural Development, Food Processing  etc. and also in State PSUs. He is associates with several policy making initiatives in agriculture and food production, food processing industries, rural infrastructure development, quality education in primary, secondary and tertiary levels, power sector reforms (Odisha state was the pioneer) tribal welfare, disaster management etc.
